Insert pictures attached Above show Aldenham's Course Manager MarcWinan measuring the ninth green wit the stimp metre. As shown this is a simple device with a shallow groove cut in it so the ball stays in place until the angle it is raised to allows the ball to roll out. This is done 3 times and the average distance travelled measured. It is then done in the opposite direction then the two readings are averaged again.
Yesterday (Tuesday) the greens were running at 9, by the weekend we expect them to be 9.5 as they will be cut and ironed Thursday and Friday. This is a good speed at club level as average European Tour speed is 10-10.5.
Scotty Cameron fitting for the club captain
Our Club Captain StevenHill went through the Scotty Cameron fitting process. After setting his heart on a particular model before the fitting he walked away with a completely different one. It was a real eye opener for both of us as to how obvious it was as the process went on that the model purchased fitted Steven's action far better than anything else.
Not only was it more consistent on line but it actually reduced the amount of hand action in his stroke.
This really is vitaly important. Click here to book a putting session so we can get that you a rolling the ball correctly. It could be a very simple fix...
Ladies vs Hanbury Manor
After reaching the ¼ finals of the PearsonTrophy we believe that they are due to face Hanbury Manor. This will be a great day for those who play as it is a championship course and has previously held the English Open on European Tour.
They should also be looking very smart in the new sweaters kindly sponsored by BridgetWalker.
