Modernising Golf's Rules

Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.

Aldenham Ladies Beginners Academy

In April this year we are starting a Ladies' Golf Academy. This will be designed to enable ladies new to golf to gain expert tuition in a group environment.

We propose groups of four for an hour's duration over a twelve week period. Either come alone and meet new friends or form your own group. Each group will be able to choose a day and time most convenient to themselves. All aspects of golf will be covered and there will be an opportunity to get out and enjoy one of our beautiful courses. In order that they are as flexible as they can be for the participants, a group can choose a day of their convenience and also book forward the twelve sessions at a regular time.

The areas covered will involve all aspects in order that we get players on the course and enjoying their golf as quickly as possible. They are listed below:

1. Swing Technique                         2. Pitching                              3. Bunkers

4. Chipping                                     5. Putting

At the appropriate time we will also spend time on the course familiarising players with rules, etiquette and any further situations or questions that need to be answered.

The cost of the tuition is £150 per person for the twelve hours' tuition. As an Academy Member, you will be offered reduced green fee rates for the playing season.

With the Academy Membership in mind, we will be providing a Liaison Officer from our Ladies Section so that newer golfers are made to feel as welcome as possible at Aldenham.
