Have you ever witnessed anything quite like that?

The ability to raise your game to the next level when it matters the most is something that very few people possess, but to do so when the wheels have started to come off, and to step up not just one but multiple levels, is something rarely seen.

Jordan Spieth left the entire golfing universe speechless with his heart-of-a-lion performance on Sunday afternoon at Royal Birkdale. A ridiculously wayward tee-shot into the heavy rough on 13 resulted in a 20-minute delay, where Spieth smartly used his knowledge of the Rules to his advantage.

The American started by taking an unplayable drop, keeping in line with his ball and the flag, onto the driving range, followed by a ‘line of sight’ free penalty drop due to the Tour Trucks blocking his path to the green. A remarkable bogey followed leaving Spieth four-over for the day and one behind with five to play.

It felt like a case of déjà vu, reminiscent of his collapse as last year’s Masters, until the American seamlessly stepped up several gears to go birdie (almost holing out on the par-3 14th), eagle, birdie, birdie, par to win his third Major title.

It was a result which 11% of you called correctly before play begun in our monthly poll, but will Spieth go on to be the youngest ever golfer to win the career Grand Slam with victory at next month’s USPGA Championship?

That's got some face on it
